At Iron & Icing we make EVERYTHING with brown butter. Why? It is the easiest way to level up your baked goods! So, if you want your home-baked goods to taste like they came straight from our tavern, you need to learn the easiest flavor upgrade in the game: brown your butter (the easy way).

What is Brown Butter?
Brown butter is simply regular butter that has been melted and cooked until the milk solids toast. It develops a rich, nutty, caramel-like aroma that makes ordinary chocolate chip cookies taste like legendary loot. It is an easy fix that adds a massive depth of flavor to your baking.
How to Brown Butter (Barbarian Style AKA the easiest way to brown butter for baking)
You do not need to be an alchemist to pull this off and you definitely don't need to babysit butter while it's on your stove!
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Get an oven safe baking dish, and fill it with your desired amount of butter (but don't fill more than 1/2 way . . . the butter will foam up as it cooks).
Once your oven is preheated, pop your oven safe, butter-filled dish inside.
Wait 40 -50 minutes. You CAN stir half way through if you'd like but it is not required.
Pull out of the oven, admire the beautiful amber color, and either use immediately or cool down and store in the fridge or freezer.
Flavor Comparison
Ingredient | Aroma | Best Used In |

Brown Butter | Nutty, toasted caramel | Literally anything sweet. You can't go wrong! |
The Barbarian Cheat Code: To add an extra level of flavor without the extra effort (or extra butter), add an extra teaspoon of milk powder to your butter before you put it in the oven. Extra milk solids = extra flavor!
